100 Caminhos

Ensemble

100 Caminhos brings together five renowned musicians from different Portuguese orchestras, whose experiences reflect spells in leading national and international organizations. In a context distinct from the orchestra, they have joined together in this chamber formation with the aim of investing in the creation of new works for brass quintet. In addition, the project seeks to promote transdisciplinary crossings in conjunction with all other artistic areas, giving the project great versatility.

Notwithstanding its focus and well-defined objectives, 100 Caminhos does not, of course, disregard a significant collection of works by composers such as Leonard Bernstein, David Maslanka, André Previn, Anthony Plog, Elliot Carter, Eric Ewazen, David Sampson, Michael Tilson Thomas, Jan Bach, Malcolm Arnold, Witold Lutoslawski, Alexander Arutiunian, Victor Ewald and Enrique Crespo, among many others. The eclecticism that is so characteristic of this formation, and which is profusely supported by a long list of convincing arrangements and adaptations, is also a resource that we don't give up, in the sharing of musical styles that continue to motivate and inspire performers, audiences and the composers themselves.
